Celso's Homepage

Welcome to my corner of the web. I'm a geophysics student in the master's program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks who is interested in volcano seismology. More specifically, I'm interested in what volcanic earthquakes tell us about what's going on in a volcano, and what it is likely to do. For my thesis work, I'm looking at the activity occuring under Okmok Volcano, on Umnak Island. This past summer, I had the pleasure of doing field work on Okmok, which has been very enlighting. I've learned:
  1. Travelling in the Aleutians is always an adventure and
  2. Yep. I'm posilutely sure that I'm in the right line o' work!

My advisor is Dr. Stephen McNutt, of the Alaska Volcano Observatory.

More information about what I do -- including information on my matlab scripts-- can be found on my studies page.

Prior to moving to Alaska, I spent a number of years living and travelling throughout the southwest, and other parts of this country continent. One of my favorite haunts is Yellowstone National Park, so within these pages, you'll find photos and stories of my time in that --and other-- national parks.

Check the links below for a plethora of photos of my adventures.
