Well, we finally made it to Fort Glenn, Umnak Island. There's a ranch here that
we used as our jumping-off point for all the work we needed to do. Weather
permitting, we were going to install two new seismic stations (one to replace one that
fell off a cliff, and one to replace one that was directly hit by lightning).
Additionally, we were going to set up a bunch of campaign GPS sites and do
general maintenance on all the other existing seismic stations.
This photo was taken on the 21st, after my camera spent a few days dessicating in an oven. The trip over to the
island was relatively uneventful. At night, as we motored over to Ft. Glenn, we could se the bioluminescent algae
churned up by the propeller. Like the twinkling of many galaxies all chasing our boat, only to be lost into the
void.
