Stuff to bring:
- Pillow
- Can opener
- Dishes(plastic works, 1 set), silverware,
sealable containers
- Sports Stuff (Volleyball, frisbee, football, etc.)
- MOSQUITO REPELLENT (or a shotgun, it's more effective)
- Rain Gear
- Sleeping bag and pad
- Tent
If you plan on camping at all (trust me, you will), the above four
items will come in handy. I know it's hard to pack but it's worth it. Most
weekends the Outdoor Adventures group has checked out all equipment from
the Activities Center and they won't be available...
- Bikes are all but essential. If you have a good bike it's worth the price to have
it shipped up (through the airline is usually cheapest). A reasonable,
used mountain bike will cost anywhere from $100 to $200 here. Road bikes
are usually less than $100. Also, grocery stores are at least 1 1/2 miles
away. Bikes make the shopping commute much easier.
- Make plans to cash checks at home or open an account
in Fairbanks.
