Major-element compositions of glass and mafic-phenocryst proportions of Holocene tephra samples from the northeastern Alaska Peninsula and lower Cook Inlet region, Alaska

[Site numbers shown on index map; field numbers refer to individual stratigraphic sections. Samples at each site are arranged in stratigraphic order from oldest to youngest. Oxide concentrations measured by electron microprobe are followed by 1 standard deviation analytical uncertainty expressed as a percent of the reported value. Samples in italics were treated by briefly soaking in mixture of bleach (sodium hypochlorite) and water to remove an adhering organic coat. Mafic-phenocryst proportions determined by point counts of 100-150 grains are reported as clinopyroxene/orthopyroxene/hornblende = c/o/h; values in parentheses are estimates, dashes indicate a second glass component that has the same mafic-phenocryst proportions as the first component, and "n.d." is not determined. Accessory minerals are denoted by a, apatite; o, olivine; and b, biotite. Plagioclase is ubiquitous and dominant, and its abundance was not measured.]
